SpaceX Announces Creation Of Gigabay In Florida To Increase Launch Capability
As their launch and reuse capacity continues to increase, SpaceX announced that it is expanding its Starship construction and launching capability in Florida at the Kennedy Space Center as well with the development of a facility called “Gigabay”.
The new facility, which is adjacent to the current SpaceX HangarX launch facility will focus on increasing the capability of the Starship to be flown, landed, and reused. Utilizing an 815,000 square foot footprint, the Gigabay will by its opening in 2026, double the crane lifting capability for SpaceX while providing work bays for the processing of up to 24 rockets and assemblies, up substantially from the current capacity of 5 at any one time.
