MEDIA: Warner Bros/Discovery May Be Seeking Sale Instead of Split Into Two

The iconic media brands and major California and global employers held by Warner Bros/Discovery may be marketed for a single sale instead of being broken into two or more entities according to sources quoted in lightreading.com.

While having pursued a split into two companies over most of the last year, the company now feels that it can maximize the value of its intellectual and enterprise properties, which range from major cable and broadcast networks to the landmark Warner Bros. film studio in Burbank, CA, in a single sale.

Traditional media companies, a major employer throughout California and globally, has come under pressure from a number of competitors especially in the last six years. Competition has not only cut into the value of the organizations themselves but the resources to create new projects which in turn has greatly impacted the employment of literally hundreds of thousands of artists, technicians, and vendors.

Potential corporate suitors could include Paramount/Skydance which itself just completed the complex purchase of Paramount Studios and the CBS Television Network brands, along with Comcast, which already owns NBC, which currently serves about 25% of the homes and employers that use high speed internet or cable television nationally.

Potential sales of this type and size are complex issues that may impact hundreds of thousands of careers across the West and the Association of Western Employers will continue to track this story.
