Globally, Percentage of Children Living Past The Age of 5 Is Near All Time High

For the first time in recorded history, according to global health statistics reported by Our World in Data, the number of children living past the age of 5 has really never been higher as measured on a percentage basis.

Comparing countries from Sweden to Ghana, with data stretching back almost 250 years in the case of Sweden, in nearly every case the percentage of children dying of early childhood disease dropped from roughly 35-40% to into generally below 5%.

While medical science has advanced globally, infrastructure advances, like the ability to move water and especially wastewater more effectively, and nutrition both in purity of food and the ability to significantly increase the number of nutrients and calories available to all populations and especially the children have been among the greatest achievements in the last two centuries.
