Gas Prices Hold Steady Into The Fourth Of July And Middle Of Summer

In continued good news for drivers, the national average price at the pump according to AAA has held basically steady since early June at $3.15 a gallon. For almost 60 days, the national price reading has held at that basic price.

While the measure blends the price of low energy cost states like Texas, Florida and dozens of others with high cost states like California, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii, AAA’s analysis provides a rolling average that indicates a wider price point analysis that stands within a range that can be either a dollar lower or higher depending on where along the Colorado River you are for instance where Texas is reliably more than $1.50 per gallon cheaper than California.

For nearly three years from early 2021 to early 2024, American consumers were confronted by a drumbeat of inflation that ended up raising prices across the board by almost one-third, making any stability or drop in gasoline prices especially welcome with drivers and employers.
