BIRTH RATE ALERT: American Fertility Rate In 2022 Drops Again To Less Than Two-Thirds 1970 Levels
Analysis by the Center For Education Statistics shows that in 2022 the national fertility rate for the United States dropped by .54% to 56 from 87.9 in 1970.
Fertility rate is used to analyze the willingness and ability to have children across the population of American women aged 15-49 and has been dropping globally, especially in the developed world for decades.
In comparison to the rest of the world, the drop in the United States has been smaller but is still large as the 2022 rate was 36.3% lower than the rate in 1970 (56 in 2022 versus 87.9 in 1970).
As fertility and birth rate are a great predictor of a country’s future, we will continue to monitor and report this issue in the coming months so check back often.
