Gas Prices Welcome New Year With Three Cent Hike

As 2025 opens with much of the country under winter and the government going through a historic transition, at the pump the national average price rose by about 1% to just under $3.07 per gallon.

Last month, according to AAA, the average price at the pump was $3.033.

Prices for a national average are often skewed higher by high cost states California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington where consumers face substantially higher costs because of local regulations, restrictions, and in the case of Hawaii geographic challenges.

With price inflation, especially in food and energy costs, at the top of concerns for consumers this is a key issue we will continue to track the all important energy costs that have been a driver of price inflation over the last four to five years.
