New Data Satellite Capacity Promises Better Service For Low Density Markets First
As competition amongst the once stable internet and data service network providers is heating up with the large scale entry of Starlink, a new study reported in Manufacturers Dive seems to point towards future growth for Starlink in lower density markets in North America and across the globe.
Starlink V3 satellite, which is being readied for deployment by the company, promises to provide 10 times the download and 22 times the upload capacity of the current versions of which there are already 11,000 in orbit and 9,000 in regular use.
While lower density markets often indicates lower growth opportunities, especially in technology, the potential opportunity for Starlink is very strong. According to industry analysis, 15-17% of new subscribers to Starlink had no internet provider at the location they are subscribing from and well over 50% of new subscribers either had no service or a previous generation of network capability.
Given that the Starlink system is continuing to be built out and that nearly 50% of its new subscribers are upgrading their legacy service or receiving internet at their location for the first time, the opportunity for Starlink and their potential customers is vast and largely untapped.
Employers and organizations use data services daily and the expansion of high speed service offers many great opportunities. We will continue to track this story on an ongoing basis at the Association of Western Employers.
