MEDIA: Warner Bros & Discovery Tie Up In Historic Merger

To better compete against emerging media and a variety of streaming services, ATT and Discovery will wrap up into a new company to be known as Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (WBD) according to reporting from a number of sources including Wall Street Journal, lightreading.com, and many others.

The combined company will have 40,000 employees working across its many brands and properties which include the landmark Warner Bros Studio, cable television subscribers, dozens of cable properties including CNN and streaming and internet properties.

A complicated transaction unthinkable just a few years earlier by most, the new company will operate under the stock ticker WBD as of April 11.

The marketplace for data streaming, media, and information continues to change at a rapid pace and with it the employment of hundreds of thousands of technicians, engineers, artists, and vendors.
