In one of the largest employer based announcements in the recent history of the State of Maryland, Anduril committed to invest $3.7 billion in the Baltimore Harbor to build a 2 million superfactory for the next generation of Virginia class submarines according to an Anduril announcements.

Ultimately employing 3,100 when opened in 2030, Anduril’s Arsenal 2 facility is just beginning site analysis and development negotiations with local authorities following a $2.9 billion commitment from the Department of Defense/War.

“The more time that Anduril spent learning about the industrial-based challenges, the clearer the need became to us,” Anduril co-founder and CEO Brian Schimpf told Manufacturing Dive. “The country requires substantially more places where submarine components can be built.”
