GAS: February Prices At The Pump Jump 10 Cents Nationally And 33 Cents in California
Drivers around the country in February saw a slight acceleration in the price they paid at the pump as the per gallon price of gasoline rose 10 cents to $2.91 a gallon in the daily price survey conducted nationally by AAA.
In California, as often occurred any national price pressure upwards gets amplified and in February, on average prices in the Golden State were 33 cents higher than just a month before as drivers found themselves paying $.34. per gallon or 49% higher than the national average. In addition, Californians once again paid the highest average price for gas beating out regular high cost states including Washington, Oregon, Illinois, and Hawaii.
Organizations in California face some of the highest costs of doing business in the country. Energy plays a large role in this as electricity, gasoline, and diesel costs rank among the highest of any state or region in the United States. The Association of Western Employers will continue to track costs on a state by state and national basis.
