Drivers Face Prices At The Pump 12% Higher Than On January 1 As Gas Adds 18 Cents In Cost In April

AAA has found that drivers are now on average paying 12% more per gallon nationally than on the January 1, 2024. When factoring for high cost states like California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and Alaska, drivers can often be facing 50 cents or more per gallon over even the rapidly accelerated average per gallon price of $3.53.

Since January 2021, consumers and employers nationally have faced a sustained inflationary increase of over 30% across the board in nearly every part of the economy with energy as a leading driver of that hike.
