As Winter Recedes And Spring Comes On Gas Prices Rise Slightly Again

Americans struggling under 30% or more price inflation for both core items like housing and food ran into another 1%+ increase in gas prices at the pump in early February as measured nationally by AAA.

On average, Americans are paying just over $3.10 a gallon nationally, a four cent increase from where prices stood at the beginning of the New Year when prices stood at or near $3.07 nationally.

While prices are skewed by a handful of high price states like California, Oregon, Hawaii, Washington, Illinois and others where drivers face more regulations and unique challenges like Hawaii’s geography, the national trend was measurably albeit slightly higher month to month.

Energy prices have been a core driver of inflation since the start of a near historic 30% multi-year increase in inflation which started in early 2021 and we will continue to track this story as it develops.
